Washington - Labert St. Clair, 62, industrial counsel and writer and former member of the Associated Press staffs in Chicago and Washington. He was born in Veedersburg, Ind.

Washington—LaBert St. Clair, 62, industrial counsel and writer, died Saturday.
  A native of Veedersburg, Ind., he headed the House of Representative staff of the associated Press for eight years before the first World War.
  He started his newspaper career as a county correspondent and local reporter for the Danville Democrat. He joined the Associated Press in Chicago and served as head of the Albany, N. Y. Bureau before going to Washington.
He handled publicity for the liberty loans during the first Word War, later wrote a syndicated column, and was with the Barron G. Collier advertising interests in New York from 1921 to 1937. He opened a private office here in 1937.
  He went horseback riding Saturday near Vienna, Va., and was seen to dismount and collapse. He was dead by the time help reached him. – thanks to S&E

Washington, Dec. 19 - Labert St. Clair, 62, an industrial counsel and former Illinois newspaperman, died Saturday. St. Clair headed the house of representatives staff of the Associated Press before the first world war. He later wrote a syndicated column, in addition to several books and numerous magazine articles. Death came unexpectedly while he was horseback riding. He dismounted and crumpled. By the time help reached him, he was dead. St. Clair became a country correspondent for the Danville, Ill., Democrat in the early 1900's and later was one of its local reporters. He worked for the Associated Press in Chicago later. Surviving are his widow, Mae, and two daughters, Mrs. Jerome Hardy of New York City and Mrs. Richard West of Decatur, Ill.
