VEEDERSBURG — Gordon St. Clair, 80, Veedersburg native who had become a nationally recognized artist, died Monday night at his home in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Death was due to a heart attack, although he had been in failing health for a year. Born, June 6, 1885, in Veedersburg, he was the son of Robert and Clara Lombard St. Clair. He was graduated from Veedersburg High School and at the age of 17 entered art school at Chicago. He later attended other art schools and had his own studio in Chicago for more than 50 years. He was married to Hazel Davis in 1919. Survivors include the widow; a son, Robert St. Clair of Chicago; a grandson, and a sister, Mrs. Georgia Niekirk of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Joan Sage. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church at Glen Ellyn, Ill. The body then will be brought to the Parham Funeral Home at Veedersburg. Friends may call Thursday evening. Brief services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Edith Bruner officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Rockfield Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
