NEWTOWN — Lyle A. Seymour, 75,
Newtown, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 in St. Elizabeth Medical
Center, Lafayette. He had been in failing health for the past seven months due
to cancer. He was born Feb. 26, 1931 in Vermilion County, Ill., the son of
Robert G. and Edna E. (Wienke) Seymour. He married Nancy M. Campbell Feb. 14,
1958 in the Osborn Prairie Church near Stone Bluff. She survives. He was raised
in Richland Township, graduating from Richland Township High School in 1950. In
1950 he entered the U. S. Navy and saw action during the Korean Conflict. He
had resided in Newtown for the past 43 years. He worked at C & D Battery
for 35 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Newtown Community
Church. He formerly served on the Newtown Fire Department. He had formerly
served on the Newtown Town Board. He was a member of the Quigle-Palin American
Legion Post #394 of Newtown. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a son,
Steven Seymour, Newtown; a daughter, Crystal Fellows, Veedersburg; two sisters,
Bernice Merrill and Helen (Gene) Miller, both of Veedersburg; three brothers,
Walter Seymour, Mellott, Don Seymour, Hillsboro, and Rolland (Sharon) Seymour,
Veedersburg; and two grandchildren, Anthony and Heather Fellows. He was
preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ervin Seymour. Funeral services
were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with Mike Parks
officiating. Burial with military services were in the Osborn Prairie Cemetery,
near Stone Bluff. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newtown Community
