COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) — Orville L. Sears, 79, of 201 Jefferson, Covington, was found dead about 4 p.m. yesterday (Sept. 18, 1969) at his home by a meter reader. Death was attributed to natural causes. Born June 16, 1890, at Allerton, Iowa, he was the son of Grant and Margaret Shriber Sears. He was married July 14, 1912, to Fay Liggett, who survives. Mr. Sears was a graduate of Allerton High and taught school there for several years. He also had farmed several years and resided at Valparaiso where he was employed for 26 years by the Indiana Steel Co. before retiring in 1955. He was a member of the First Church of Christ. Other survivors include a son, Merle of Champaign, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Hodge of Mt. Prospect, Ill., and Mrs. Ocie Smith of Denver, Colo.; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a son, Miles. Services will be at 3 p.m. EDT Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Fogle will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after noon Saturday. - waw

Covington – Orville L. Sears, 201 Jefferson Street, Covington died 201 Jefferson Street, Covington died Thursday Sept 18, 2 p.m. at his residence. Born June 16, 1890 at Allerton, Iowa he was the son of Grant and Margaret Schriber Sears. He was married July 14, 1912 to Fay Liggett, who survives. He graduated from Allerton HS and taught grade school there for several years. He was a farmer, part time and was employed at Indiana Steel Company in Valparaiso for 26years. He retired in 1955 and moved to Covington. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Covington. Surviving with the widow are one son, Merle of Champaign; two granddaughters, Diane and Lynne, Champaign; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Hodges, Mt. Prospect, Ill; Mrs. Ocie Smith, Denver Colo. He was preceded in death by one son, Miles in 1966. Funeral services were held at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Fogle officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. – kbz
