COVINGTON — Mrs. Fay Sears, age 79, a resident of Covington since 1955, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Burnham City Hospital in Champaign, Ill., where she had been a patient one week. She had been in ill health one year. Mrs. Sears was born Aug. 5, 1890, in Iowa, the daughter of Scott and Ella Laughmann Liggett. She was married to Orville L. Sears on July 14, 1912, and he preceded her in death Sept. 18, 1969. She was a former resident of Valparaiso and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Covington. Surviving Mrs. Sears are: one son, Merle, of Champaign; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Hammond of Klamath Falls, Ore., and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, four brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Harold Fogle officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.   --waw
