ATTICA — Fredrick “Fred” E. Searcy, 69, formerly of Attica and had been residing in the Indiana Soldiers Home, West Lafayette, died at 6:23 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2003 in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been admitted earlier in the day. She was born near Rainsville May 22, 1933, the son of Charles Leroy and Rosella Roberts Searcy. He was formerly married to Kathleen Marie Howard. She preceded in death. He grew up in Warren County and attended Pine Village High School. He had been a resident of Attica for the past 24 years, moving to the Indiana Soldiers Home in 1998. He worked in the chill room at Harrison Steel Casting Co. for seven years and then worked as a self-employed painter. He was in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the V.F.W Post #3318 of Attica. Survivors include: a daughter, Jaylne (Huey) Quillen, Rossville, Ill.; a sister, Carole Harvey, Oxford; three brothers, Monty Searcy, Oxford, Kenneth (Virginia) Searcy and Bob (Sandra) Searcy, both of Williamsport; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dean Searcy. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Harvey Lange officiating. Burial with military services were in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post #3318. – jlr
