Mrs. Magdalena Schoonover, 92, prominent resident of Covington, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday at her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Schoonover was the daughter of Michael and Margaret Schuster Mayer who came to this country from Germany and her first husband, Homer Sewell, was a veteran of the Civil War. Later she was married to Judge Isaac Schoonover of Covington who died several years ago. Surviving are a brother, Michael Mayer, Jr of Covington and the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Fletcher Kerr of Crawfordsville, Ind; Charles Mayer of Evergreen, Colo; and Michael Mayer, III of Covington. --– transcribed by kbz

Covington—Mrs. Magdalena Schoonover, 92, lifetime Covington resident and active in church and civic affairs here, died at her home after a brief illness at 10:10 o’clock Monday morning.
Miss Schoonover, born July 27, 1856 in Covington, was the daughter of Michael and Margaret Schuster Mayer, both of whom came to this country from Germany. She was first married to Homer Sewell, a Civil War veteran, and later married Judge Isaac Schoonover of Covington, who preceded her in death several years ago.
Among the many organizations in which Mrs. Schoonover held membership were the Methodist Church, Woman’s Club and Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a brother, Michael Mayer II; a niece, Mrs. Fletcher Kerr, of Crawfordsville, and two nephews, Charles Mayer of Evergreen, Colo. and Michael Mayer III, of Covington.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Powell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
