SCHLOSSER, Arthur

Waynetown - Arthur C. Schlosser, 79 year old retired blacksmith died about 4 p.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. Death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to Dr. Samuel C. Millis Montgomery County Coroner.  Mr. Schlosser was found lying clothed on a bed in one room of a two-room cottage located behind the Wayne Hotel here. He was found by Richard Vestal and Howard Butts who are employed by hotel proprietor Lee Smith. They notified Small who summoned County Sheriff Clarence Demoret who called an ambulance and then went to the scene Demoret removed a 22 caliber pistol from the wounded man's hand and he was rushed to the hospital but died a few minutes after arrival there. The bullet wound was in the right temple. Born March 15, 1883 at Waynetown he was a son of Joseph and Fannie Richer Schlosser. He attended the Waynetown schools.  Mr. Schlosser operated a blacksmith shop here with his brother, Lee, for a period of time.  He later worked as a blacksmith at Hillsboro and then at Delphi until his retirement. Survivors include his brother, Lee of Waynetown and a nephew, Max Miller of Indianapolis. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Servies' Funeral Home here with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Interment will be in masonic Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz
