COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS) -- Mrs. Clara E. Schafer, 69, a resident of Covington for 32 years, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 31, 1971) at her home on Covington Route 1. She had been ill a year and seriously ill for four months. Born Dec. 17, 1901, in Mellott, she was the daughter of Charlie and Catherine Cunningham Ray. She was first married to Ramond Rivers and later to Robert C. Schafer. She formerly had resided in Argos. She had owned and operated Clara's Dixie Cafe in Covington for 31 years. She was a member of the Auxiliary of VFW Post 2395 of Covington. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Keller of Covington; a son, Robert L. of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Francis Fogleman of Ninevah; a brother, Robert E. Ray of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hegg Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after noon Thursday.   --typed by Walt W
