William M. Sayre of RR 2, Covington, age 66, died Friday morning, January 28, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born at St. Cloud, Florida, September 22, 1916, the son of Peter F. and Ethel Blue Sayre. March 7, 1981, he married T. Maxine Ricketts Knoll, who survives. Sayre was a retired manager of Pauley Lumber Company at Cayuga and had also worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member and past commander of the Cayuga American Legion Post.

  Also surviving are three sisters, Alice Dixon and Barbara Trosper, both of Cayuga, and Helen Foos of Clinton; a stepdaughter, Miss Sharon L. Knoll of Hoboken, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

  Funeral services were held Monday morning at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. John Irwin officiating. Burial was in Thomas Cemetery at Newport. – thanks to s
