Rockville—George E. Sappenfield, 73, Rockville, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 1989 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 21, 1916 in Montezuma, the son of Charles Frederick and Eva Mae Nichols Sappenfield. He was married July 14, 1945 in Covington to Mary Adams, who survives.
He was a graduate of Rockville High School and a retired farmer.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, Duane, Albuquerque, N. M.; Doug, Clinton, and Andy and Greg, at home; five daughters, Sarah Whitlock, Greencastle; Elaine Pastore and Jeane Britton, Clinton; Dee Farrington, Catlin, Ill., and Susan Benavidez, Albuquerque; a sister, Audrey Pemberton, Rockville; a half sister, Norma Jean Howard of California; 14 grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Barnes Mortuary, Rockville, with the Rev. David Finney officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rockville. – thanks to s
