The widow of a Fountain County man has filed a $527,000 damage suit against the Norfolk & Western RR Co in the Terre Haute Division of US District Court. Margaret Sanders, administratrix of the estate of Elmer Sanders, charges the company with negligence in the death of her husband. She seeks the sum for expenses incurred following his death and for the loss to herself and their two dependent children. Sanders was killed in a car accident May 23, 1971 at a crossing near the town of Yeddo in Fountain County. The plaintiff alleges the railroad was negligent in allowing the train to maintain a speed greater than reasonable for the crossing, failed to sound a horn or bell within 60 rods of the intersection and did not maintain the right of way in proper order. - kbz
