SANDELL, Lena Williams

Mrs. Lena Williams Sandell 85 a member of one of the pioneer families of Hillsboro died at her home here at 7:30 a.m. Monday April 2, 1962.  She had been in ill health for the past six years.  Mrs. Sandell was the last member of a family of 11 children. She was the daughter of Pleasant B. and Margaret McBroom Williams and was born at Hillsboro Nov 14, 1876.  On July 27, 1895 she was married to William A. Sandell in Chicago where they resided until 1911 when they moved to Hillsboro and she spent the remainder of her life a short distance from where she was born. Mr. Sandell preceded her in death Jan 14, 1941.  Mrs. Sandell and Mrs. Stella Krug have been members of the Hillsboro Christian Church for the longest number of years, having united with the church 73 years ago. She was also a member of the Fraternity Bible Class.  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Miriam Taylor who had cared for her mother for the past four years; a son, William Sandell, of Hollywood, California; a granddaughter, two grandsons and four great grandchildren.  Funeral services for Mrs. Sandell were held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. John Coil, pastor of the Hillsboro Christian Church, officiating.  Organ music was by Mrs. Lucy Crumley. Those servings as pall bearers and assisting with flowers were: Herman Foxworthy; Herbert Krug; Carter Hutchins; Walter Myers; William Templeton and Marion Osborn. Burial was in the Old Hillsboro cemetery. – kbz
