LINDEN – Orval D. Sams, 63, of Linden, a plumber, pipe fitter and owner of Sams’ Antique Store here, died Saturday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He was a member of Pipe Fitters Local 157 at Terre Haute and Linden Masonic Lodge. Mr. Sams was born in Fountain County Aug. 11, 1913, a son of Nathan and Cora Mormon Sams. He was first married to Ruth Lucille Harwood in 1936. She died in 1955. He was then married to Wreath Hanthorne in 1960 at San Bernadino, Calif. Surviving are his wife; a son, Darrell of Crown Point; two daughters, Mrs. Newton (Jeanie) Campbell of Griffith and Mrs. Ron (Gerri) Langworthy of Waynetown; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert (Doady) Karshner of Cedar Lake and Mrs. Francis (Cindy) Hightower of Wingate; three stepsons, Ronald Hanthorne of Veedersburg and Dean and Daniel Hanthorne of Attica; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hazelwood and Mrs. Lillian Hartley of Kingman, Mrs. Opal Allen of Waveland and Mrs. Mabel Ellis of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Louie Sams of Crawfordsville and John Sams of Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Helms Funeral Home here with the Rev. John Webb officiating. Burial will be.in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7:30 tonight. – jlr

Linden - Oral D. Sams, 63, owner of Sams Antique Store at Linden, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been in ill health six months and seriously ill three weeks. Born in Fountain County, Mr. Sams had resided at Crawfordsville before moving to Linden in 1965. He as a plumber and pipe fitter by trade. His first marriage was in 1936 to Ruth Lucille harwood, who died in 1955. His second marriage was in 1960 at San Vernardino, Calif to Wreatha Hanthorne and she survives. Mr. Sams was a member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 697 at Linden and Pipe Fitters Union 157 at Terre Huate.
