Rochester – Ernest John Sampson, 76, former resident of Crawfordsville and Indianapolis died at 8:55 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Sampson had resided in Rochester since retiring 13 years ago from the American Can Co. at Indianapolis. He was a tool and die maker. Born April 8, 1891 at Alamo, Mr. Sampson was the son of William and Florence Goodin Sampson. He was first married to Helen Croy who died. His second marriage was on Oct 15, 1950 to Elsie Bradley, who died Oct 5, 1968. The deceased was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church at Rochester and Masonic Lodge NO. 608 at Indianapolis. He served in the US Army during the Mexican Border campaign. Surviving are one stepson, Edward Wray of Indianpaolis; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Wayne Linnens of Galets, Calif and Mrs. Woodford Smith of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Stump and Mrs. Marie Fulkner of Indianapolis; Mrs. Elnora Hindle of Rt. 5 Rochester and Mrs. Ruth Birch of Carmel, Ind; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Foster and Good Funeral Home, 128 W. 6th Street, Rochester, with Rev. Laurence Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Crawfordsville where graveside rites are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday. Friends may call at the mortuary.   -- kbz
