WEST LEBANON — Walter “Bud” A. Salts, age 88 of Vincennes formerly of West Lebanon, died at Willow Manor Health Care at 1:50 p.m. EDT on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Walter was the son of Alvin B. and Louise E. (Young) Salts. He was born in West Lebanon on March 5, 1920. Walter lived in Illinois for 12 years, graduating from Robinson High School in Ill. He then moved to West Lebanon residing there until 2005 when he moved to Vincennes. On April 26, 1941 he married Berneice B. Barnhart in West Lebanon in his parents, home. She survives. Walter worked as an accountant for Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica for 34 years retiring in 1984. He continued to do research for several years on their company history. Walter was the first scoutmaster when West Lebanon Boy Scout Troop #44 was organized and was scoutmaster for 11 years. He was a member of the F & AM Lodge #352 West Lebanon, the Warren County Historical Society, Friends of the West Lebanon Library, and the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian Church. Walter was interested in doing genealogical and local history research and enjoyed stamp collecting. Surviving with his wife, Berneice, are a son, Rick (Jenice) L. Salts of Vincennes, a niece, Janice Reeder, Danville, Ill., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by an infant sister and a sister, Hazel Woodard. Graveside services were held at West Lebanon Cemetery on Thursday, June 5 with Rev. Roger McDaniel officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian Church, the F & AM Lodge #352 West Lebanon, or the Warren County Community Foundation for the Fleming Scout Ranch Fund.
