SACKMIRE, Harold

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct 10 1984, at Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman, for retired school teacher Harold Sackmire, 78, of Route 1 Kingman.  He died at 7 p.m. Sunday Oct 7 at his home. The Rev. James Lane and Kenneth Majors officiated.  Burial was in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.  The family requested memorials be in the form of donations to the Shawnee Learning Center near Attica. A graduate of Kingman High School and Indiana Central College, he had retired in 1960 after teaching for about 30 years in schools in Aurora, Cayuga, Attica, Richland Township and Kingman.   He was a member of the Centennial Community Church, Retired Teachers Association and Shetland Pony Association. He was born March 31, 1906, the son of Albert and Mary Mitchell Sackmire. On June 1 1929, he married Roma Allen.  She survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Majors and Mrs. Carolyn Milligan, both of Kingman; Mrs. Jim (Alberta) Ellis of Route 1 Kingman; Mrs. Duane (Phyllis) Woodrow, Route 2 Veedersburg; three sisters, Miss May Sackmire, Long Beach Calif.; Mrs. Doris Wallace, Lufkin, Texas and Mrs. Mildred Grannon, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. – thanks so much to Betty Dotson
