WILLIAMSPORT — Halton Allan Rush, 55, Rt. 2, Williamsport farmer, was killed by lightning while cultivating soybeans at 4 p.m. Monday. Employed by Harold Schlosser, also of Rt. 2, Williamsport, he was working in the Wabash River bottoms on Rt. 4, Attica, one mile east of Williamsport. It had not started to rain when Rusk was struck by a bolt of lightning and killed instantly. He was knocked off the tractor and the rotary hoe the tractor was pulling passed over his body. Schlosser found the body after the tractor ran on wildly and lodged against a fence about 50 rods away. Dr. W. L. Windnagel, Warren County coroner, investigated and ordered an autopsy which showed that lightning was the cause of death. Mr. Rush, life resident of Warren County, was married to Addie Thompson in 1932. He was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church and Knights of Pythias. Surviving with the widow are two sons, Merle of Indianapolis and Robert of Williamsport; four daughters, Mrs. Joyce Bales of Covington, Mrs. Alice Rollins of Attica, Mrs. Laura Hackley of Rt. 1, Fowler, and Judy at home; his mother, Mrs. Josie Allen of Williamsport; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Wilson of Lafayette and Mrs. Stuart Ehler of Rt. 1, Williamsport, and three brothers, Richard of West Lafayette, and Lincoln and Kenneth of Rt. 2, Williamsport. --typed by Walt W
