ROWLEN, Jessie Sands

Danville, Ill.—Jessie A. Rowlen, 82, Danville, died at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 1989 at Americana Healthcare Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1906 in Fairmount, Ill., the daughter of Charles Calvin and Stella Mae Goodwin Sands. She was married Sept. 15, 1923 in Covington to Archie Francis Rowlen, who survives.
She was a charter member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene. She and her husband started what is now the Douglas Park Church of the Nazarene in Danville in a storefront mission on College Street in 1943.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, the Rev. Shirlie Franklin, Harrisburg, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Heath, Danville; a brother, Ralph, Danville; two sisters, Thelma Howie, Santee, Calif., and Hallie Buckellew, Catlin, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Rowena Estes, James Heath, Richard Heath, Danny Rowlen, Pam Parr, Stanley Rowlen, Curtis Rowlen, Linda Gordon, and Julie Rowlen, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Don Williams and Frank Rowlen officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery.- thanks to S
