COVINGTON — Kenneth Gene Rose, 68, of the Portland Arch area, died unexpectedly at 10:59 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000 at his residence. He had been in ill health five months. He was born April 16, 1931 in Fountain County, the son of Joseph and Eva Southard Rose. He married Georgina Sophia May 11, 1957 in Detroit, Mich., who survives. He was a life resident of the Portland Arch area, he attended Portland and Covington schools. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Robert Wurtsbaugh Chapter of Korean War Veterans Association. He enjoyed being out in the woods, mushrooming and collecting toy tractors and cars. Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Covington, with the Rev. Father Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery with military honors by the Korean War Veterans. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Korean War Veterans, envelopes available at the funeral home. – jlr
