COVINGTON — Roy Romine of 617 Railroad St., died early today in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. Arrangements are incomplete at DeVerter Funeral Home.

Covington - The funeral for Roy L. Romine, 79, of 617 Railroad Street will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Covington United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the DeVerter Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Sunday. The body will be in state at the church one hour before services. Mr. Romine, a retired 4-year C&EI Railroad machinist died at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill. He was an Army Veteran of WWI and member of Fulton Banta American Legion Post 291. He was a one-term Covington City Councilman and member of the Covington United Methodist Church. For 10 years, he had helped distribute lunches for Covington schools. He was a native of Covington born June 22, 1897, son of Samuel and Susie Martin Romine. He was married May 2, 1925, at Covington to Lola Smith. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Rosemary) Tudor of Franklin; a son, Samuel S. of Sycamore, Ill; 3 sisters, Mrs. Fronie Palin of West Point; Mrs. McKinley Fairchild of Covington and Mrs. Ben Fairchild of Waynetown; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and son, Jesse Roy "Jack" on July 19, 1970.
