Enoch Watkins Romine, age 89, who for the past several years made his home with his brother, Earl Romine, 708 Liberty St., Covington, died at 2:15 a. m. Friday, June 5, at the Rudisill Nursing Home, Second St., where he had been a patient two days. Mr. Romine was born Feb. 16, 1875, near Rossville, Ill., the son of Isaac F. and Mary Elizabeth Watkins Romine. He was married to Addie E. Bostic, who preceded him in death July 9, 1944. He had lived in the Covington area since he was 12 years old and formerly resided in the area known as Romine Corner, two miles west of Covington. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Covington and a 50-year member of Tidal Lodge 36, Knights of Pythias, of Covington. Mr. Romine is survived by one son, Arthur of Lombard, Ill.; two brothers, Guy D. of Alliance, Neb., and J. Earl of Covington; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie R. Bodine of Robinson, Ill., Mrs. Frances R. Wright of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Julia R. VanDeventer of Upper Darby, Pa.; one grandson, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at 4:30 p. m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Donald Ashley, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Covington, officiated and burial was in Upper Mound Cemetery, across the Wabash River in Warren County. --typed by Walt W
