Danville, Ill.—Jesse William Rodgers, 71, Danville, died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 1989 at the veterans Administration Medical Center.
  He was born April 7, 1918 in Danville, the son of Everett William and Nila Ruby Thompson Rodgers.
  He served in the Navy during World War II. He had been a welder at C&EI Railroad Shops. Before his retirement, he had been a janitor at Douglas School.
  He enjoyed ham and CB radios and he was a gunsmith.
  Surviving are a daughter, Linda Kaye Kelley, Charlotte, Mich.; four grandchildren; a brother, Everett, Portland Arch, and two sisters, Mildred VanLiew, Knoxville, Ill., and Marian Peevler, Prentice, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
  Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the VA Protestant Chapel with Chaplain Taylor Neeley officiating. Burial was in Danville National Cemetery with graveside rites by American Legion Post 210.
