RODGERS, Doscia Rhodes

OAKWOOD — Doscia R. Rodgers,
107, of Oakwood, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Colonial Manor
Nursing Center in Danville. Doscia was born Feb. 8, 1899, in Covington, Ind.,
the daughter of Sylvester and Della Mae Jones Rhodes. She married Russell B.
Rodgers on June 28, 1923, in Veedersburg, Ind. He preceded her in death on
March 25, 1985. Doscia was also preceded by three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving is a host of friends that will miss her. Doscia and her husband
farmed the Oakwood area for many years and also owned and operated Rodgers
Grain Co from 1926-1959. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. Doscia was
a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star of
Illinois serving as worthy matron of the Oakwood Chapter 812 in 1934, past
member of the Danville Woman's Club and a life member of the Vermilion County
Museum. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Sunset's Oakwood
Chapel in Oakwood; Officiating: Pastor Allen Miller; Entombment will be
private. Memorials appreciated to the Oakwood United Methodist Church, 200 N.
