  Wilbur A. Roderick of Newport, age 82, died Friday night, May 1, in Vermillion County Hospital at Clinton. He was born in Springfield, Illinois, July 8, 1898, the son of John and Florence Roderick. January 27, 1929, he married Thelma Cole, who survives. An Army veteran of World War I, he attended the Friends Church and had retired after working at General Motors in Danville, Illinois and the Newport plant at DuPont.

  Also surviving are two daughters, Roberta Hinote of Veedersburg and Patsy Roderick of San Francisco, California; five sons, Harold and James of Newport, Bernard of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Gary of Montezuma and Robert of Bloomington, Illinois; a brother Doc of Springfield, Illinois, a sister, Gussie Wahls of Bloomington; 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

  Funeral services were held Monday morning at Malcolm DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga with Rev. Gleason Hawn officiating. Burial was in Thomas Cemetery at Newport. – thanks to S
