Mrs. W.A. Rodbertus a well known and highly respected president of the Winthrop neighborhood died Thursday night at 11:15 o’clock at the home of Charles Baker in Winthrop to which place she had gone on previous Monday for a visit. Mrs. Rodbertus became ill Tuesday morning and her condition grew worse until death relieved her of her suffering Thursday night. Death was caused from meningitis. The decedent was the widow of the late William A. Rodbertus who died last May. Since the death of her husband she had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Wade Perigo who resides a mile south of Winthrop. Mrs. Rodbertus was a member of the Christian Church of Winthrop and was a woman of beautiful Christian character. She was 74 years old and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wade Perigo with whom she had been making her home. She also leaves two sisters – Mrs. Byron Steadman and Mrs. Dick Steadman who reside near Independence. The funeral was conducted from the Christian Church in Independence Saturday forenoon, Elder AW Jackman of this city officiating. Burial was made in the Independence cemetery.
