HARLINGEN, Texas — Delmar Gene Robertson, Harlingen, Texas, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 in Harlingen. He was born Feb. 22, 1934, the son of Thelma and Gerald Robertson. He was married to his wife Byresia for 36 years. She survives. He had been in poor health since 1994 with heart and diabetic problems. He did what he loved doing which was remodeling his home and cooking. His hobbies were woodworking, gardening, mushroom hunting and supporting Bobby Knight when in Indiana and now Texas Tech. There wasn't anything he could not do, he was truly gifted also with the gab. He was a member of the Second Church or Christ in Danville, Ill. and the American Legion in Kingman and Amvets. His career was with the Air Force for 11 years, and then he went to Bohn Heat and Transfer that took him and his family to California for 30 years as a manufacturing engineer and also working on space shuttle. He left Lake Hide-a-Way in Kingman in September 2006 and after the auction he and his family moved to Harlingen. He loved the Texas climate and friendly people. He loved rubbing it into everyone about the weather they had this winter and how nice it was even if it was chilly in Texas. Survivors, besides the wife, include: four children, Steve (Debbie) Robertson, Teresa Evans, Donnie (Brenda) Robertson, and David Robertson; two step sons, Jeff Ping, Harlingen and Tony (Jennifer) Ping; a brother-in-law, Chet (Fay) Lynch; his step father, Hamilton (Alma) Smith; and his beloved dog, truck companion, Daisy Mae. Rudy Garza Funeral Home, Harlingen is in charge of arrangements. He was cremated as per his wishes. A memorial and military service will be held at a later date. – jlr
