Mrs. Belle Ridge, a life long resident of Covington passed away on Sunday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. DV Spence where she had made her home for some time. For the past two years she was practically an invalid, suffering from a complication of diseases. About two months ago while she was visiting in Indianapolis she became a great deal worse and grew weaker until her death. The deceased was born in Lafayette 67 years ago. She lived nearly her entire lifetime in Covington and vicinity where she reared a large family of fine children. Her husband died a number of years ago. He was a prominent business man of the city. She was the mother of 7 children, all of whom were with her when she passed away except one daughter, who resides in Oregon. The children are : Mrs. Katie Spence of this city; Mrs. Minnie Evans, George C. Ridge of Bloomington, Ill; Mrs. Julia Hackman of Portland, Oregon; AL Ridge of Guthrie Okla; Mrs. Ida Coutant of Eaton, Ohio and CC Ridge of Indianapolis. There is also a large number of grandchildren. Mrs. George Crane of this city was a sister. The funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon from the Spence home. Rev JP Henson of Waynetown formerly of this city had charge of the service assisted by Rev. Strecker of the Methodist Church of this city. Interment was made in the family lot at Prescott cemetery. Sunday evening as the shades of the eve’ time began to gather as the bird were finding their nesting places, the subject of this sketch gave up her spirit which took its flight to its eternal abiding place. Eight months of weary waiting and watching were passed in pain and suffering until her Lord called and she slipped quietly and peacefully away to be with Him and her loved ones beyond. Mary Isabelle Schneider, daughter of George and Catherine Schneider who came from Baden, Germany was born Dec 2, 1844 at Lafayette, Ind. When but a child she came to this city with her parents. She married Andrew Jackson Ridge in 1881, who died in 1880 leaving her with six children, all of whom survive except one daughter, Mrs. Moudy. Mr(s) Ridge later united in marriage to Mahlon Ridge who died in 1894, leaving one son, Charles Clyde Ridge. The deceased was of a family of 8 children of whom two sisters, Mrs. Teresa Kerns and Mrs. George Crane and also one brother, Henry Schneider remain. She leaves besides those mentioned, 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren besides a large circle of friends. She united many years ago with the ME Church at Terre Haute with which body she had remained a faithful and consistent member. At six o’clock Sunday evening, the deceased passed to her reward at the age of 67 years 7 months 2 days. --- kbz

Among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Belle Ridge in this city Wednesday afternoon of this week were George Ridge wife and daughter of Bloomington, Ill; OR Coutant and wife of Eton, Ohio, Oliver Evans and wife of this state, AL Ridge of Guthrey, Okla; CC Ridge of Indianapolis; Albert Ridge and wife of Danville, Ill; Mrs. Lizzie Trough of Rossville, Ill and Mrs. Mary Cooper of Minere, Ill. --- kbz
