PERRYSVILLE — Lois E. Riddle, 76, Perrysville, died at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000 in Union Hospital, Terre Haute. She was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Perrysville, the son of James Fred Smith and Rachel Marie Lewsader. She married William H. Burks in November 1945 and later married Fred T. Riddle April 14, 1971 in Indianapolis. He preceded in death Sept. 2, 1979. She was a resident of Perrysville most of her life and a graduate of Perrysville High School in 1942 and St. Anthony School of Nursing at Terre Haute in 1945. She was an RN at Boaz & Albertsville Hospital, Boaz, Ala. for three years, University Heights Hospital in Beech Grove, five years and retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill. on Feb. 28, 1984 after 20 years. She was a member of Perrysville United Methodist Church, Perrysville Senior Citizens, Perrysville Homemakers, Perrysville Bunco Club and St. Anthony Hospital Alumni Association. Survivors include: three sons, James F. Burks, Perrysville, W. Edward (Jeannie) Burks, Davenport, Fla. and Alan Ray (Rosetta) Burks, Indianapolis; two brothers, James L. (Sharon) Smith, Indianapolis and Robert D. (Mary Alice) Smith, Mooresville; 10 grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandchild, Zachary Allen Brissey. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday in Perrysville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Platt officiating. Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. – jlr
