Mrs. Nellie Rich, 78 of Yeddo died at noon Friday in the Vermillion County Home at Newport where she had been a patient since Feb 2. Since last December she had lived with a daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Allen of St. Bernice. She was born near Tangier April 19, 1882, a daughter of Josiah and Arminda Brooks Hicks. She married James William Rich Oct 6, 1899. He died July 13, 1959. Surviving besides the daughter at St. Bernice are three sons: Fred of Kokomo; Leo of Covington and Robert of Peoria, Ill; a brother, Flaud of Lakeland, Fla and six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Mrs. Rich was a member of the Yeddo Chapter OES. Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fishero Funeral Home, Veedersburg with Rev. Bennett Fulp officiating. Burial was in Centennial Cemetery. - kbz

Veedersburg - Mrs. Nellie (Hicks) Rich, 78 of Yeddo died at Newport at noon Friday. Born in Tangier, she resided in Yeddo many years.  She was a member of the Yeddo Eastern Star.  In 1899, she married James William Rich who died in 1959. Surviving are three sons: Fred of Kokomo; Leo of Covington and Robert of Peoria, Ill; one daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Allen of St. Bernice and one brother, Floyd Hicks of Lakeland, Fla.
