MELLOTT — Word has been received here of the recent death of Melvin Rice, a Mellott native. He died at his home in Clearwater, Fla. He had been in failing health for several years. He was the son of William and Bertha Davis Rice of the Mellott community. He attended Mellott schools. He married Opal Lee Locke of Crawfordsville, who survives. He was a member of Old Fort Harrison Post 2743, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Clearwater and a member of the United Brethren Church there. He also is survived by two nephews, Merlyn Rice of Hillsboro and Emery Rice of Lafayette, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marian Rice. Funeral services and burial were in Clearwater. --typed by Walt W

Melvin D. Rice, 67, former employe of Mid-States Steel & Wire Co., died Tuesday at Clearwater, Fla., where he had made his home for the last five years. Mr. Rice was employed as a machinist by Mid-States about 20 years. He afterwards was employed as a millwright by the Ford Motor Co. of Indianapolis from which he was retired. He was a member of Old Fort Harrison Post No. 2743, Veterans Of Foreign Wars at Clearwater. While in Crawfordsville, he held membership in the United Brethren Church. Surviving is his wife Opal Mae Rice. Services and burial will be in Clearwater on July 6 at the Moss Lakeside Chapel. --typed by Walt W
