MELLOTT — Mrs. Clara A. Rice, age 82, a life resident of the Mellott area, died Sunday, June 13, in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, where she had been a patient four weeks. She had been in failing health three years. A daughter of Henry and Martha Murray Wade, she was born Nov. 20, 1888 in Mellott. She married Clarence Rice, May 27, 1905 and he preceded her in death March 18, 1971. Mrs. Rice was a member of New Antioch Christian Church here. She attended Mellott schools and for a time taught a summer school here. Survivors include: four sons, Ralph E. Rice of Scott Bluff, Neb., Ferman (Fuzzy) and Reed Rice of near Mellott and James C. Rice of Wilmington, Del.; two daughters, Mrs. Forest (Pearl) Murdock of Murray, Ky., and Mary Evelyn Rice, at home, and 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased, and a grandson, his wife and daughter were fatally injured in an auto accident in June 1970. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
