America Alice Abolt was born Oct 11, 1852 and departed this life Jan 24, 1902. She was married to Samuel Rice Nov 30, 1871 who survives her. Mrs. Rice united with the Baptist Church at Newtown Feb 1, 1870 and was baptized February 27 of the same year by Elder Bowles who was at that time in charge of the Newtown Baptist Church and she remained a faithful and consistent membe rup to the hour of her death. For a number of years the life of Mrs. Rice had been one of affliction and although the best edical talent of the sate was procured fo rher, it proved to no avail. During all these long years she bore her affliction bravely and faced death calmly, without a fear or doubt as to her future and happy in the thought that she would soon be with her sainted mother and a idolized daughter, Bertie who had preceded her. Besides the husband who had been her stay and support for over 30 years, Mrs. Rice leaves 3 children, father, two brothers and host of friends to mourn her demise. She will be sadly missed by the entire community being born in the vicinity of Newtown where she was content to pass her days. Mrs. Rice was 49 years 3 months 13 days.

Mrs. Samuel RICE died at her home SW of Newtown Friday January 24th after a long illness. America Alice Abolt was born on Coal Creek Oct 11, 1852. She was married to Samuel Rice Nov 30, 1871. She united with the Baptist Church at Newtown Feb 1, 1870 and was baptized February 27 of the same year by the Pastor Rev. Bowles. Mrs. Rice leave in the home or in the near vicinity 3 children to mourn and the husband who has been a faithful support and stay for over 30 years. She leaves, as well a father and 2 brothers, Marion Abolt and Samuel Abolt of Warren County a number of relatives and a host of friends. Her other died a few years ago and she also lost a daughter Bertie. Her life for anumbe rof years had been one of sad affliction, but she had the tenderest care and most constant attention of the ablest physicians of the state. The funeral was held at the family home Sunday monring and interment was made at the old Baptist cemetery west of Newtown Rev Henson of Covington officiating.
