Mrs. Alice RICE. 85, died at her home in Mellott Wednesday afternoon (January 1) at 2:45 o'clock after an illness of two months. Death was attributed to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. Rice was born March 15, 1862 near Mellott, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Celestine Riester. She was married to Samuel Rice of Mellott, who died several years ago. She had spent her entire life in and near Mellott.
She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church and remained active in its affairs until ill health interfered.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Emma Jenkins of Indianapolis and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Congregational Christian Church in Mellott with Rev. Ivan Gwaltney in charge. Burial will be in Union Cemetery northwest of Mellott. --- transcribed by kbz

Mellott, Jan 14 – Mrs. Alice Rice, 85, died at her home here today after an illness lasting two months. Born near here, she has spent her entire life in this community. Her husband, Samuel Rice, preceded her in death several years ago. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Emma Jenkins of Indianapolis.
