RUSH, John H. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

John H. Rush, age 68, who for 46 years was an employee at LS Ayres & Co died at his home 2234 North New Jersey Street Sunday. He was a native of Indiana, having been born in Fountain County and had lived practically all of his life in Indianapolis. He began his work at the Ayres store at the wrapping desk when the store was on the 1st floor of the building now occupied by L Strauss & Co. He had a wealth of interesting reminiscences about the early days not only in the store but in the city which he saw develop. He was retired from service in October 1927 owing to ill health. He is survived by the widow; one brother, Hannibal Rusk, who lives in Fountain County and a sister, Mrs. Effie Gates, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 p.m Tuesday with the Rev. WA Shullenberger, pastor of Central Christian Church officiating. Pallbearers will be older employees of LS Ayres & Co who were associated with him. - kbz
