COVINGTON – Carroll H. Rhodes, age 77, of Crawfordsville, a native of Covington and father of Harold (Dusty) Rhodes, a former Covington resident, died Saturday morning, Oct. 21, in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. He had been in failing health since January. Mr. Rhodes farmed most of his life near Potomac, Ill. He moved to Wallace from Illinois in 1936 and from there to Crawfordsville in 1944. He retired two years ago from his job at the Strand Theatre Crawfordsville. He was born in Covington Oct. 6, 1890 the son of Lew Wallace and Minnie Zeigler Rhodes. He was married Sept. 17, 1921, to Ethel Talbott, who survives. He was a member of the Covington Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: seven daughters, Mrs. Charles Ray of Crawfordsville Rt. 5, Mrs. Marion Simms of Waynetown, Mrs. Mary Ellen Harvey of near Kingman, Mrs. Donald Green of Lebanon, Mrs. Charles Merrell of Mooresville Rt. 2, Mrs. Joseph DiMariano of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Harry Richards of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Harold (Dusty) Rhodes of Crawfordsville and Lewis of Muncie; one sister, Mrs. Charles Hamilton of Nashville, Tenn., and 21 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. – jlr
