MELLOTT — Marion Alva "Dad" Reichard, 94, Mellott's second oldest citizen, died at 10 p.m. Thursday at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. Mr. Reichard was found unconscious at his home about four hours before he was taken to the hospital. He lived alone. The deceased had been a resident of Mellott for 52 years. He once owned a grocery here, and also served the Mellott area from a huckster wagon. In addition he was a mail carrier for the Mellott, Hillsboro and Newtown area and was employed at the C&EI Shops at Danville, Ill. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Chase, Ind., and the Mellott Fish and Game Club. Born near Kingman on Oct. 2, 1875, he was the son of Francis and Mary Ham Reichard. His marriage to Mary Edna Cook was solemnized in February of 1894. She preceded him in death in 1940. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eulalia Oden of Hobart and Mrs. Dorothy McAlister of Mellott, and a sister, Mrs. Esther Miles of Logansport. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Services are pending at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro.   --typed by Walt W


MELLOTT — Funeral services for Marion Alva "Dad" Reichard, who died Thursday night at 94, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Harry Hybarger will be the minister, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Marion Alva (Dad) Reichard of Mellott died Thursday (Oct. 17, 1969) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He was stricken at his home and found unconscious about 5:30 p.m. and rushed to the hospital. He was born near Kingman on October 2, 1875, the son of Francis and Mary Hamm Reichard. He married Mary Edna Cook in February 1894 and she died in Sept. 17, 1940. He was a member of the United Brethern Church and the Mellott Fish and Game Club. He came to Mellott 52 years ago and operated a grocery for several years; he also was a star route mail carrier for 20 years and formerly was employed at the C & EI Shops in Danville. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy McAllister of Mellott and Mrs. Eulalia Oden of Hobart, and a sister, Mrs. Esther Miles of Logansport. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were Sunday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Harry Hybarger of the Prairie Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. – jlr
