The funeral of
Will B. Reed one of Attica’s most prominent business men held Thursday from his
late residence on Perry Street was attended by many friends. This was one of the largest assemblies ever
seen at a funeral in Attica. From all walks of life people came to pay their
last respects to one who had been a true friend. Representatives from neighboring town for
miles around were present. The bar association of Williamsport attended in a
body. There was also a large
representation from the Covington Bar association. Rev. RH Crowder pastor of
the Methodist Church conducted the funeral services. Miss Latha Coen, who was associated with Mr.
Reed for many years as his private secretary sang, “The End of a Perfect Day,”
with Miss Georgia Whittier playing accompaniment. Not long ago Mr. Reed had
made the request of Miss Coen that she sing at his funeral. The room in which
the body of Mr. Reed rested was banked with flowers. The casket was borne to
the grave by OS Clark, Joe Smith, JM Hoan, Windsor J Weaver, Harry E .
VanDeventer and James F. Small.
Interment was made in the family lot at Riverside cemetery. - kbz
