Ralph E. Reed, 64, of 65920 CR 1100N (?), Pine Village died Saturday morning Nov 23, 1996 as a result of a traffic accident in Benton County at 10:22 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Reed had farmed most of his life, raised seed corn for the Moews Seed Co Inc in Boswell, was a warehouse distributor for the Texas Refinery Corp and co-owner of both the Oxford Convenience Mart (Amoco) and Laminating Specialties, Inc at Templeton. Born in Boswell on March 17, 1932, he was the son of James and Hattie (Foster) Reed. He was married to Marian J. Wolfe Oct 15, 1952 at Boswell. She survives. Mr. Reed lived all of his life in the areas of Benton and Warren counties. He graduated from Boswell HS in 1950 and attended Purdue University. From 1954 to 1956 he played on the I&I Independent Baseball League and he played softball on the Farmers and Merchants Bank Team until he was 62. He was an avid Purdue fan and worked concession stands with the Pine Village United Methodist Church during the Purdue basketball games. He was involved in tractor pulling and competed in tractor pulls all over the area. Mr. Reed was a member of the Pine Village United Methodist Church, a layleader, served as board chairman for many years and a member of the choir. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club both at Pine Village and the National Appalossa Association. He was a former member of the Indiana Tractor Pulling Association, served on the Warren County ASCS Board and was a veteran of the US Navy. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Chris) Foxworthy of Pine Village and Mrs. Kim (Tam) Craig of Oxford; three brothers, Earl V. Reed of Largo, Fla; Clyde F. Reed of Kerrville, Tex and Dead Reed of Scio, Oregon and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by … (sorry rest gone)
