Veedersburg, Ind - Lena M. Reed, 99, of Rt 4, Veedersburg (photo) died Oct 20 at Covington Manor Nursing Home at 7 p.m. She was born near Veedersburg, Jan 9, 1890 to Freeman and Vententia Greenley Dice. She married March 2, 1910 to John S. Reed. He died Feb 3, 1964. She was a life resident of Veedersburg. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Maxine) Mann of Rt 4, veedersburg, two grandchildren, Mrs. Harry D. (Paula) Smith of Indianapolis and Reed Mann of Camel; two great grandsons, Roger and Kevin Smith and two step great grandsons, Mark and Matthew Gabel, several nieces and nephews. She was preeded in death by three brothers. She had made her home with her daughter since 1983. Mrs. Reed graduated from Veedersburg HS in 1908. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and had written several poems and sons including, "Why Don't They Put their Trust in Jesus." She was a member of the New Century Community Church and Bonebrake Cemetery League. Services will be at the United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Thomas Terrell. Burial at Bonebrake Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home and at the church on Tuesday from 12-2 p.m. Contributions can be made to the Veedersburg United Methodist Church or Bonebrake Cemetery League in her memory.
