VEEDERSBURG — Larry L. Reed, 62,
West Liberty, Iowa and formerly of Veedersburg, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000 in
Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Death was sudden and unexpected. He was born July
11, 1938 in Danville, Ill., the son of Clyde and Aline Jones Reed. He married
Joyce Hickman July 3, 1960 in Covington. She survives. He was a graduate of
Veedersburg High School in 1956 and Purdue University with his degree in
agriculture. He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
He had been employed with Liqui Grow Co. in sales and management for the last
23 years. He was a member of West Liberty United Methodist Church and the Lions
Club. He enjoyed his grandchildren and traveling Survivors, besides the wife,
include: a daughter, Dawn (Wayne) Vinkavich, New Lenox, Ill.; a son, Jeff
(Sandra) Reed, Lee's Summit, Mo.; four grandchildren, Marci and Reno Reed,
Johnathan and Grant Vinkavich; a brother, Dale (Donna) Reed, San Leandro,
Calif.; his in-laws, Virgil and Wilma Hickman, Covington; a brother-in-law,
Donald (Libby) Hickman, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two nephews; three nieces; four
great-nephews and three great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in West Liberty United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. The Barker Home, West Liberty,
was in charge of services. Burial was at 2 p.m. Friday in Mt. Hope Cemetery,
Covington, under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Memorial may
be made to West Liberty Rescue Unit. –
