REDENBAUGH, Willis

Willis Redenbaugh was born Nov 20 1836, died March 20 1907, aged 70 years, 4 months. He was married to Amanda Sowers March 21 1861, and to this union were born 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. One boy and girl having preceded their father to the other world. During the war of the Rebellion when men were needed to stand on the alter of sacrifice, this man enlisted and said “send me I am willing to do my part in this great and mighty struggle.” He served his country well and having received an honorable discharge came back home. Some years after his return from the war he with his wife and children moved to Kansas where they lived for some time, his wife dying there. He returned to Indiana and was married again to Nancy J. Hutts July 11 1879. To this union was born four children, three girls and one boy. He joined the Christian church and was baptized but was not satisfied with his religious experience until just a short time before his death when he gave testimony to the fact that Jesus has power on earth to forgive sins and raised his hand toward heaven and said I am ready to go.
The funeral services were conducted by Revs. McHargue and Simmons and the body was laid to rest in the Centennial cemetery. He leaves a wife, 8 children, one brother, one sister and other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. – S
