Covington- Alva Lee Redenbaugh, 81, of the Danville Ill Care North Nursing Home, died Thursday morning in the nursing home. He had been a residen there for the past two years. Redenbaugh was employed as a car man helper for 24 years at the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad. He retiredin 1947. Redenbaugh was born April 29, 1896 at Cates, a son of William and Nettie Lawson Redenbaugh. He was married March 18 1919, at Rockville to Myrtle Paddock. She is deceased. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Bertha) Oliphant and Mrs. George (Dorothy) Wait both of Danville; two sons, Leslie of Tilton, Ill; and Lewis of Danville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday in DeVerter Funeral Home at Covington. The Rev. Charles Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in Centenial Cemetery east of Yeddo. Alva Lee Redenbaugh, 81, of Danville Care North Nursing Home, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Thursday, March 2, at the home, where he had resided for the past two years.

  He was born April 29, 1896, in Cates, In., the son of William and Nettie (Lawson) Redenbaugh. He was married on March 8, 1919, in Rockville, to Myrtle Paddock, who preceded him in death in 1960.

  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Bertha) Oliphant and Mrs. George (Dorothy) Wait, both of Danville; two sons, Leslie, of Tilton, Ill. and Lewis, of Danville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

  He was employed by Chicago and Easter Illinois Railroad as a carman helper for 24 years, retiring in 1947. He enjoyed reading and was an enthusiastic Cubs baseball fan.

  Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. Charles Jacobs officiating. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery east of Yeddo. – thanks to S
