VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) – Ollie C. Rector, 71, a resident of the Sterling community on Veedersburg Route 4 for the past 10 years, died at 6:15 a.m. today (Sept. 15, 1969) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient there since Aug. 27 and had been ill several years. Born Aug. 9, 1898, in Morgan County, he was the son of Timothy S. and Della Kirkman Rector. He was married in 1920 to Elsie Pierson, who survives. Mr. Rector had formerly resided at Stringtown for 30 years and at Rockville. He had been employed at the Hydraulic Press Brick Co. in Veedersburg for 17 years before his retirement in 1963. He was a member of the Rockville United Brethren Church and Fulton Banta American Legion Post. He was a veteran of service with the Army during World War I. Other survivors include a son, Lester of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Batty of Rockville; a brother, John of Detroit, Mich.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, two sisters and a half sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after noon Tuesday. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside. – jlr
