Life of Leroy Chambers Rayphole began October 31, 1863, on a farm near Yeddo, Indiana, being the first child of Balas and Ellen Carter Rayphole. His was the average life of the farm boy, often being praised for his sincere efforts and always trying to put his best into whatever he worked at, and being guided by the discretion of his parents, made of him a type of honest, robust manhood. When at the age of twenty five the call for a home of his own came and he located in Kansas, later returned to Danville, then to Sorento, where he spent the remaining years of his life. Leroy was quiet and unassuming, but finding Every occasion possible to be of service to others. He was converted at the Spring Hill church and was a faithful attendant at religions services in the community where he resided until his death. His religion was not so narrow, but that he could attend other denominational services, nor was his belief so broad but that he believed something definitely. Thus his life was a force for God and righteousness. He bore his lot and afflictions without a murmur, often expressed his appreciation to his half sister, Mrs. O. C. Denny, Flossie as we knew her, for giving him a home in his declining years and for the kind care they bestowed upon him. A humble and quiet life went to its rest January 29 1936 at six o'clock at the home of Mrs. Denny, Sorento, Illinois. Of his immediate family, his father, mother, two sisters, Alice Mae and Flora Glascock, preceded him, leaving two sisters, Sadie Cartwright and Mary Ann Bonebrake, a brother George, a loving stepmother, six half brothers, Kirt, Grover, Ernest, Edd, Wayne and John, four half sisters, Estella Pearson, Maybelle Douglas, Dollie Hutts and Flossie Denny............
