Rochester – Mrs. Viola Elizabeth Ray, 72, 217 Paunee Drive, Jeffersonville, a former resident of Rochester died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at her residence. Born in Fountain County June 7, 1906, she had lived in the Rochester area most of her life before moving to Jeffersonville five years ago. She married Harry E. Ray on August 5, 1930 in Veedersburg. He preceded her in death in 1961. She was a retired Registered Nurse and school teacher and was a member of the First Christian Church, Rochester. She was a member of the Manitou Garden Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are one son, Charles (Bill) of Jeffersonville; four brothers, Waynetown, Eugene Coates of Indianapolis; Frances Coates, Waynetown; William Coates, Waynetown; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
