VEEDERSBURG — Mrs. Opal Dell Ray, 66, former resident of Veedersburg, died at her home in Hobart, according to information received here. Mrs. Ray was the sister of Mrs. Everett Wilbur. The deceased had been a resident of Hobart for two years, and before that, lived in Gary for six years. At the time of her death, she was financial secretary for a Gary United Methodist congregation. Before her departure from Veedersburg, she was employed by the town's bank and the Farm Bureau Co-op. In addition to her sister, her husband, P. W. Ray, survives.   --typed by Walt W

Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) — Services were Monday at Hobart for Mrs. Opal Ray, 66, a former resident of Veedersburg. She died Nov. 14 at her home there. Burial was in Calumet Park Cemetery at Merrillville. Born May 11, 1903, in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of Chrest and Anna Anderson Dell. She was financial secretary of the City United Methodist Church in Gary for the past six years. She had moved to Hobart two years ago. Mrs. Ray was formerly employed at the Veedersburg State Bank, Veedersburg Co-Op and the office of Dr. Furgerson. Survivors include her husband, P. W. Ray; a sister, Mrs. Everett Wilbur of Veedersburg and a niece.   --typed by Walt W

Mrs. Opal Ray, 66, a former resident, died in her home in Hobart.  A resident of Gary for six years and resident of Hobart the past two years, she was financial secretary for the United Methodist Church of Gary and was also a member of the Church. She is survived by her husband, PW Ray and one sister, Mrs. Everett Wilbur of Veedersburg. Funeral services were held in Hobart with burial at Calumet Park Cemetery. She was the former Opal Dell. = kz
