Elizabeth Smith Ray died Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Crowder, near Hillsboro. The deceased was born in 1847 near Yountsville and was married in 1874. Her parents were Jacob and Mary Manford Smith.
Elizabeth Smith Ray died Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Crowder, near Hillsboro. The deceased was born in 1847 near Yountsville and was married in 1874. Her parents were Jacob and Mary Manford Smith.
Three children survive: Charles Ray of Mellott; Mrs. Alice Hancock of Mellott and Mrs. Eliza Crowder of Hillsboro. The husband and 20 grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Ray had lived her entire life near Hillsboro and Waynetown. Five weeks she visited her daughter, Mrs. Crowder and while at the home sustained a broken hip. She never recovered from that injury. Mrs. Ray was a member of the Christian Church at Mellott. The funeral service will be held there at 10:30 Saturday morning. The Rev. RH Gott of Kokomo will officiate and burial will take place in the Masonic cemetery at Waynetown. - kbz
