Mrs. Catherine E. Ray, age 84, a resident of Covington for 30 years, died at 1 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at her home on Ninth St. She had been bedfast for four months. Mrs. Ray was born May 15, 1880, in Fountain County, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Cunningham. She was married to Charles E. Ray on Jan. 1, 1900 and he preceded her in death June 26, 1946. She was a member of the United Church of Christ at Mellott. Surviving are: One son, Robert E. Ray of Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Fogleman of Columbus and Mrs. Clara Schafer of Covington; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carpenter of Mellott; one brother, two sisters and one son. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 28 at the Hegg Funeral Home, Covington. Roger James, pastor of the First Church of Christ, Fifth St., officiated and burial was in Mt.
