Mrs. Ruth Mae Kirts Rater, 67 1300 N Perry St died at Alward Nursing home at 1:45 p.m. Monday where she had been a patient since Feb 3. She had been ill 13 months. She was born near Attica June 29, 1899, the daughter of Frank and Matilda Swanson Kirts. Her marriage was on April 23, 1919 in Lafayette to Homer Rater who survives. She attended the Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Women of the Moose and Academy of Friendship. Surviving along with the husband are three sons: Robert of Danville; Elvin and Donald of Attica; four daughters: Mrs. Jessie Sipes; Mrs. Frances Kirts; Mrs. Maxine Lister and Mrs. Betty Wien all of Lafayette. On brother, William Kirts, Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Smith, Muncie and Mrs. Mable Clark, Lafayette; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in DeSutter Chapel with Rev. t Edward Davis officiating. Women of the Moose will hold services at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the DeSutter Chapel. Burial will be in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery. - kbz
